Sonia Diaz-Del Oro is the president and founder of Ultimate Results Consulting Inc.
Developing talent across the globe has been the focus of her twenty-five-year career. While Sonia’s roots are in South Florida, she has done extensive work in various countries throughout Latin America as well as parts of Europe and Asia. Sonia specializes in executive assessment and coaching, leadership and high potential development, succession management, talent development strategy, training design, and facilitation, as well as team building services. Sonia is a Certified Professional Coach and is accredited with the International Coach Federation (ICF). Sonia works with her clients to understand their unique needs and situation, allowing her to then collaborate with them on the design and implementation of solutions that will work best for them and the outcomes they aim to achieve. She takes a pragmatic, results oriented approach in her consulting activities with the goal of affecting noticeable and sustainable positive change as well as improved business performance for her clients. Sonia’s client companies range in size, industry and geography which include (but not limited to) Hospitality, Cruise, Transportation, Produce & Agricultural, Non-Profit, Property Management, Media, and Entertainment.
Prior to starting her own company, Sonia was Associate Vice President for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in Miami, leading the Global Learning & Organization Development function. In this position, Sonia led a team of over 50 multi-national L&OD professionals and was responsible for providing the strategic vision and direction for all management, leadership, and organization development initiatives globally for over 65,000 employees (on land and sea). She would consult with senior executives to identify and analyze enterprise-wide business, performance, organization development and training needs and implement the appropriate intervention. Sonia developed and oversaw the enterprise talent management process including talent review and calibration with senior executives, high potential identification, development and succession planning. She also engaged in several Executive Coaching assignments with key global senior leaders. Additionally, she spearheaded the creation of job skills and customer service curriculum and managed a team supporting the launch of international training schools located in the Philippines, China, and Indonesia.
Prior to joining Royal Caribbean, Sonia held Learning & Organization Development management positions at Levi Strauss & Co., one of the world’s largest brand-name apparel marketers; and John Alden Financial Corp., a billion-dollar insurance provider that employed 4,000 employees. Sonia has her undergraduate degree in psychology from Florida International University and also holds a certificate in training and development from FIU.
She remains an active supporter of FIU by having participated in the College of Business Executive Dean’s Alumni Circle. FIU’s Alumni Circle provides a forum for business leaders from the college’s alumni community to advise and work with deans and administrators on initiatives to benefit the college. She has also served as a mentor to undergraduate students from the College of Business. Sonia is seen as a thought leader in her field and often speaks at national as well as international conferences and professional association meetings on topics related to leadership, high potential and executive development.
